ABSTRACT Introduction: Cardiopulmonary function is directly related to the body's ability perform metabolism under aerobic conditions. It a key characteristic for training of professional swimmers. believed that adding interval traditional workouts may contribute endurance these athletes. Objective: Evaluate effects on cardiorespiratory capacity Methods: Twenty volunteer swimmers were randomly divided into two groups seven weeks. There 4 hours class per week, totaling 28 training. In formal stage, experimental group performed intermediate-intensity training, while control continued swim team The indicators pertinent evaluated athletes collected, tested, and analyzed before after experiment. Results: VO2 in increased from 3.90±0.67L/min experiment 4.06±0.73L/min experiment; VE 156.08±35.76L 180.08±39.42L underwater time 46.80±8.43s 55.49±7.60s Conclusion: Intermittent improves athletes' physical fitness sports capacity, being an effective method improve cardiopulmonary function. Level evidence II; Therapeutic studies - investigation treatment outcomes.
